The misguided feminism is ignoring the academic and social behaviors that boys have, ignoring the way they learn and trying to turn them to behave and think like girls. There is a pile of data, evidence and statistics here, and Sommers does a good, detailed job of debunking the anti-man crowd. Why might this be seen as a threat to some interests? But being a boy is not a social disease. I've seen some of the falsehoods being taught in our local schools and it is truly appalling that parents are so uninvolved in fighting for their children's educational rights. When girls are put into situations, often times they face them without whining or complaining.
First, boys encounter more difficulties growing up in America today and being successful in schools and colleges, than do girls. If girl advocates are ignored and the relative conditions of both boys and girls are considered fairly, it is boys, not girls who are suffering academically. The Vietnam War really isn't a war. The issue with balance is the boys are all the same. This is something feminists decades ago only dreamed of, and yet now they seem more determined than ever on portraying girls as the ones at risk.

But wait-- aren't most violent crimes committed by males? Could boys just be taking the easy way out of school work? The author also didn't like Take Our Daughters To Work Day, so I would say this book was part of the impetus to change it in 2003 to Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. None of us would disagree with such a statement. But the truth is, ideologically and politically these are very, very different systems. Johnson is a president torn to pieces by war.
I believe its a war against boys because the female population is trying way harder with their school work. Female approval has a powerful effect on the male psyche. Something happens to those exuberant, expressive, emotional boys in middle school or so, and what happens to them is masculinity, the ideology of gender, which is relentlessly policed by other guys. The author thinks this case was decided wrong. The MetLife study had no doctrinal ax to grind.
